Indian constituent assembly formed various committess for handling different tasks related to the formation of the Constitution of India. There were around 22 such committess of constituent assembly which were classified into major and minor committees. On 9th December 1946, Constituent assembly met for the first time. The constituent assembly completed the drafting of Constitution in 2 years 11 months and 18 days.
Some of the important committtees of constituent assembly and their chairman are as below :

Among all these committees of Constituent assembly, most important committee was Drafting committee which was set up on 29th August 1947. This committe was provided with the task of drafting the new Constitution for India.
Facts about Drafting Committee :– It has total 7 members including its chairman, its chairman was Dr. B.R Ambedkar. Its other members were :-
a) K.M. Munshi
b) Alladi Krishnaswamy Ayyar
c) N. Gopalaswamy Ayyangar
d) Mohammad Saadullah
e) B.L Mitter
f) D.P. Khaitan
Note :– Later on B.L. Mitter resigned due to health issues, so he was replaced by N. Madhav Rao
Note :- As D.P. Khaitan died in 1948, so he was substituted by T.T. Krishnamachari
